Degrees Minutes Seconds Angle Calculator
Degrees, minutes, and seconds (DMS) are units of angular measurement used in navigation, astronomy, and other fields. Our calculator helps convert between DMS and decimal degrees, making it easier to work with these measurements.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the degrees, minutes, and seconds values.
- Select the unit you want to convert to (DMS or Decimal).
- Click the “Calculate” button.
- View the result below the calculator.
Formula & Methodology
The conversion between DMS and decimal degrees can be done using the following formula:
Decimal Degrees = Degrees + (Minutes / 60) + (Seconds / 3600)
To convert from decimal degrees to DMS, we reverse the process:
Degrees = floor(Decimal Degrees)
Minutes = floor((Decimal Degrees - Degrees) * 60)
Seconds = round(((Decimal Degrees - Degrees) * 60 - Minutes) * 60)
