Cholesterol Analysis Calculator
Introduction & Importance
Cholesterol analysis is a crucial health check that helps determine your risk of heart disease. High levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol and low levels of HDL (good) cholesterol can lead to plaque buildup in your arteries, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your total cholesterol level in mg/dL.
- Enter your HDL (good) cholesterol level in mg/dL.
- Click ‘Calculate’.
Formula & Methodology
This calculator uses the following formula to estimate your LDL (bad) cholesterol level:
LDL = Total Cholesterol – HDL – (Triglycerides / 5)
Since triglycerides are not required for this calculator, we’ll use the Friedewald equation for LDL estimation:
LDL = Total Cholesterol – HDL – (Triglycerides / 5) (if Triglycerides < 400 mg/dL)
